Abstract
Human sparganosis is a rare parasitic infection caused by migrating plerocercoid larva (sparganum) of Spirometra species. Although a subcutaneous mass is the most common manifestation, it was usually diagnosed incidentally and has long been underestimated. In this report, he thought as an enlarging subcutaneous nodule in the right thigh for 1 year, in the belief that it was lymph nodes or lipoma. His subcutaneous nodules reveal serpinginous tubular hypoechoic lesion with intraluminal echogenic structure on ultrasonography and several fragment of parasite wall-like structure in inflammed adipose tissue on pathology. We report a case of subcutaneous sparganosis of the internal thigh that was diagnosed by ultrasound examination with ultrasound-guided biopsy in 54-years old man.
